VUE Charity Morning
We partnered with Vue and local charity Young Movers (YoMo), to treat young people in Glasgow to a free screening of the recently released Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.
Thirty children, aged between four and 10, were invited to see the new aminated superhero movie, and were also provided with popcorn and a range of other goodies to tuck into too.
YoMo is a youth empowerment charity working across North East and North West Glasgow, delivering a range of youth-led projects focused on those who face social and economic barriers. It currently has more than 150 volunteers working with 60 children and 80 young people weekly. Nearly half of the children YoMo work with attended the movie morning.
Linda McGlynn, project manager at YoMo, said: “Starting the weekend with a trip to Vue was a massive treat and we had lots of excited young people on the day.“Like a lot of people across the country, many of the families we work with have struggled with the cost-of-living crisis and haven’t been able to maintain activities like a visit to the cinema. That’s why partnerships like this, with Glasgow Fort and Vue, are so vital to continue to provide enriching and fun experiences for our young people.”
Glasgow Fort has supported YoMo since May 2022, raising more than £2,000 to date towards the organisation’s work, adding to the inspiring contribution from the charity’s volunteers.
Phil Goodman, centre director at Glasgow Fort, said: “Supporting our local community is extremely important to us. It was fantastic to welcome YoMo to the centre and work together with our partners at Vue to put on a fun day out for the young people and volunteers.”
Alison Dryden, General Manager of Vue Glasgow Fort said: “We were delighted to welcome the young people from YoMo into Vue Glasgow Fort for a gifted big screen experience. It was great to see how much the children enjoyed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and we all hope it made for a memorable day out.”
