Valentines Day at Glasgow Fort
Five brilliant Valentine’s date ideas
From cosying up at home to Galentine’s nights out
Start planning your celebrations together for Valentine’s Day on Friday 14 February with our thoughtful and romantic guide.
Go stay-at-home cosy with matching pyjamas, prosecco and candles; hang out with your best friends for shopping, food and movies; do something totally different or simply get coffee (or bubble tea) on a winter’s afternoon.
Whatever your mood, Glasgow Fort has you covered…
1. Conjure up a romantic night in
Create your own at-home spa with Lush’s Love Letter bath bomb, £4 (a colour-changing bath bomb with hydrating coconut milk for a creamy gentle soak, rich in olibanum and geranium oil) and indulgent Posh Chocolate Shower Gel, £9.
Light up dreamy candles from Rituals’ new The Soulful Collection in Love or Yankee Candle’s Cherry Blossom. For pretty Instagram-friendly tablewares and decorations, Next has gorgeous cherry and heart decorated homewares.
Cosy up together in matching pyjamas (try Primark for you both or Victoria’s Secret for her) and dine in with Marks & Spencer’s incredible menu featuring starter, main, side, dessert and prosecco. Choose from pizzas, Gastropub x Tom Kerridge and slow-cooked ribs galore.
Asda Living has their popular half and half pizza available to take home from the in-store pizza counters between 3-16 February with choices including Pepperoni Feast, Cheese Meltdown and Veggie Supreme – perfect for couples who can’t decide.
Most-wanted Valentine’s gift ideas for nights in
Flowers, Hotel Chocolat gift boxes, jewellery especially necklaces and bracelets (see Pandora’s cute lobster charm too), velvet slippers, silk pillowcase, Ugg Scuff slippers for men, neck and back massagers and cashmere beanies.
Head to Argos, adidas, Forty Clothing, Mango, H Samuel, The Fragrance Shop, Pandora, Zara, Hotel Chocolat, Office, SS Argento and Swarovski for ideas.
2. Plan the ultimate Galentine’s day or night out
Palentine’s or Galentine’s, it’s time to celebrate the most important loves of all: your friends. Come together for a brilliant time to remember…
Head to Nando’s for peri-peri delights, burgers at Five Guys or, for an Italian feast together, go for incredible pizza, fresh pasta and mozzarella balls at Leopardo Pizza served with Italian-inspired Strawberry Cornetto and Espresso Martin Scorsese cocktails.
The perfect answer to lots of different tastebuds is the all-you-can-eat buffet at Booffi – choose from Indian flavours, Chinese, Italian or grill. Or share burgers, fries and cocktails at Frankie & Benny’s (pre-book before 10 February and you’ll get a free Aperol or Hugo Spritz) and TGI Fridays.
Finish with fun and indulgent waffles, sundaes, ice cream and more at Heavenly Desserts (they also do amazing brunches from 10am-4pm).
Hit the shops together for £10 Secret Palentine’s gifts at Lush, TK Maxx, Boots and B Perfect.
Finish off with a must-do trip to Vue to see Valentine’s biggest film releases: Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy and Captain America: Brave New World – both out on the 14 February.
3. Go for cocktails, prosecco and the food of love
Brunch, lunch or dinner, go elegant this Valentine’s with cocktails, fizz and delicious plates. Leopardo Pizza has Italian Brut prosecco, mocktails and cocktails and delicious house beers and wines served with authentic sourdough pizzas, garlic and parmesan fries and penne pomodoro.
Enjoy Spicy Mary and Thai Chilli Margarita cocktails at wagamama with fragrant noodles, curries and shareable rainbow pickles, chicken yakitori and yuzu bassque cheesecake.

4. Keep it laid-back with an afternoon meet-up
Want to keep things chilled? Then meet up for sweet treats and bubble tea before going for a wander. Choose from bubble teas at Bubble Citea, deep hot chocolates at Hotel Chocolat, fresh juices at Fuel and gelato, sorbets and OTT shakes at Heavenly Desserts.
Snack at Oli’s (don’t miss their famous sugar doughnuts) and Millie’s Cookies. For sitdown pancakes with every flavour under the sun, Stack & Still is the perfect place for a fun date while Monterey Jacks do American classics that are perfect for sharing.
